Meet our musicians
Yida Hu
Violinist
International violinist Yida Hu is an active musician in Dallas/Fort Worth area. He serves as Principle Second Violin of Irving Symphony Orchestra and Texarkana Symphony; a tenured musician of Tulsa Symphony Orchestra; a member of Plano Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Chamber Symphony, East Texas Symphony, and New Texas Sinfonia. In addition, he serves as a substitute of Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra. He is the founding member of Bishop String Quartet. Born in China, Yida moved to the U.S. for college at the age of 16, and has since earned five various degrees in music and psychology from Southern Methodist University and Texas Christian University, under the tutelage Chee-Yun Kim and Elizabeth Adkins. Yida performs frequently in Asia, Europe and the United States. As a featured soloist, Yida recorded American Byways: The Music of Michael Daugherty with Grammy award winning composer Michael Daugherty in 2012 under Equilibrium label. In his spare time, Yida is an enthusiastic mountaineer, mountain biker, and skier. He is currently sponsored by a Dallas local bakery for mountain biking races and events.
Ke Mai
Violin
Ke Mai (a.k.a. MaiKe) is originally from China and began violin study at age four under his father’s influence.
Before he joined the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in 2018, he was violinist of Dallas Opera Orchestra and the second violin principal of Des Moines Metro Opera.
MaiKe studied the art of violin playing with former Concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony, Emanuel Borok and received the Performance Diploma from SMU, Meadows School of Art in 2014.
After Maike acquired Masters and Bachelor degrees in Violin performance in the National Music Academy of Ukraine in 2007,he won the position of the first violin of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine. In 2011, after a global online audition, MaiKe was selected as Principal Second Violinist for the 2011 YouTube Symphony Orchestra in Sydney, Australia, As an active chamber music musician, Maike is the founding member of Cezanne Quartet, which was awarded the Peak chamber music fellowship in Meadows school in SMU in 2014 and won the second prize in the Coltman chamber music competition in Austin in 2015.
Mai ke plays a rare fine violin made by Carl Becker in 1919.
Hollie Dzierzanowski
Viola
Dr. Hollie Dzierzanowski is a classically trained violist who earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in viola performance under the guidance of Dr. Susan Dubois at the University of North Texas. Her studies were further enriched by mentorship from Dr. Kris Chesky, particularly in performing arts health and her doctoral thesis.
A passionate teacher and performer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Hollie serves as Adjunct Faculty at Dallas College and is a section violist with the Abilene Philharmonic. She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in viola performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Stanley Konopka and Mark Jackobs.
Hollie is dedicated to helping musicians enhance their performance and practice through body awareness training, strength training, myofascial stretching, and musculoskeletal education. As a certified ELDOA trainer, she focuses on reducing injury and alleviating playing-related pain. Additionally, Hollie is a Licensed Body Mapping Educator and Training Mentor for the Association for Body Mapping Education, having completed her certification under ABME Sponsoring Teacher Jennifer Johnson, author of What Every Violinist Needs to Know About the Body.
Alyson Albarran
Cello
Alyson Albarran is a cellist from Dallas, TX. She began learning the cello at the age of 4 years old from her first teacher, her mother. Alyson grew up in a musical household and by age 13 she additionally picked up both the piano and the French horn. While studying with members of the DSO (principal cellist Christopher Adkins and section cellist Jennifer Humphreys), she earned many accolades and enjoyed many experiences during high school including, but not limited to, the Texas All-State Orchestra, Tanglewood Learning Institute, and the Honors Orchestra of America. After graduation, she studied with Andres Dias at Southern Methodist University where she earned a BM in Cello Performance and a Performance Diploma in her Graduate studies
(was also elected a member of the Society of Pi Kappa Lambda). Alyson enjoys her career as an orchestral and chamber musician, a recording studio cellist, and a private lesson teacher. And although classically trained, she’s also an experienced pop/rock electric cellist. With a passion for performing and positively impacting students’ lives, she is excited to work with any student who comes her way and hopes to encourage and help develop their love of music and the cello.
